Your choices about cookies and similar technologies.
This policy explains how ShopZi may use cookies and similar technologies, why they are used and how you can manage or withdraw your choices.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that websites can store on a device and access later. Similar technologies can include local storage, scripts, tags, pixels or other methods that store or access information on a user's device.
These technologies can support essential functions such as keeping a session active, remembering choices, protecting accounts or measuring how a service is used.
How ShopZi may use cookies
ShopZi may use cookies or similar technologies for purposes such as:
- maintaining secure user sessions;
- supporting login and account functionality;
- remembering basket or platform preferences where the implementation requires device storage;
- preventing fraud or protecting the platform;
- remembering cookie and privacy choices;
- measuring service use and performance where permitted; and
- supporting advertising or marketing technologies only if ShopZi later implements them and the required consent has been obtained.
Types of cookies
Used where necessary to provide requested functionality, maintain security, operate sessions or remember privacy choices.
May remember optional settings or choices that improve the user experience. Consent requirements depend on whether an applicable exception covers the specific use.
May help ShopZi understand usage and performance. ShopZi must assess the exact technology against current UK rules before deciding whether consent or an exception applies.
Used for personalised advertising, cross-site tracking or similar marketing purposes. These must not be enabled before valid consent where consent is required.
ShopZi cookie inventory
The table below is a framework for ShopZi's final cookie inventory. Before launch, it must be checked against the cookies and similar technologies that the live website actually sets.
| Technology | Category | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PHP / session identifier | Essential | Supports the active ShopZi session, authentication and security where configured by the platform. | Confirm against live session configuration. | ShopZi |
| Cookie preference record | Essential / exempt preference | Remembers the user's cookie choice so ShopZi does not repeatedly ask for the same preference. | Set according to the final consent system. | ShopZi |
| Analytics technologies | Analytics | Only list these if analytics tools are actually enabled on the live platform. | Confirm before launch. | Confirm provider. |
| Advertising technologies | Advertising | Only list these if ShopZi actually uses advertising or cross-site tracking. | Confirm before launch. | Confirm provider. |
Consent and your choices
Where UK law requires consent, ShopZi must obtain a valid choice before placing or accessing the relevant non-exempt technology.
Consent must be informed and based on a clear positive action. Simply continuing to browse ShopZi should not be treated as consent where consent is legally required.
Essential or otherwise exempt technologies may be used without consent where the applicable legal exception genuinely applies, but ShopZi should still provide clear information about them.
Managing or withdrawing your preferences
ShopZi should provide a persistent and accessible way for users to review and change cookie choices, for example through a "Cookie settings" link in the website footer or privacy interface.
If you previously consented to optional cookies, you must be able to withdraw that consent at any time and with the same general ease as giving it.
Withdrawing consent does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful, but ShopZi should stop future use of the relevant non-exempt technology once the updated preference takes effect.
Browser and device controls
Most browsers allow users to view, delete or block cookies through browser settings. Similar controls may also be available at device level.
Blocking all cookies may affect essential ShopZi functionality. For example, login, session, security or basket-related features may not work correctly if technologies required for those functions are disabled.
Browser controls are additional to the ShopZi consent mechanism and should not replace an on-site consent choice where the law requires one.
Third-party technologies
ShopZi may use third-party technology providers for services such as payments, mapping, hosting, communications, analytics or other platform functions.
If a third party places or accesses information on a user's device through ShopZi, the relevant technology and third party should be clearly identified where required.
ShopZi should review each third-party integration before deployment to determine whether storage or access technologies are used and whether prior consent is required.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
ShopZi may update this policy when technologies, service providers, legal requirements or platform functionality change.
The cookie inventory should be reviewed whenever a new analytics, advertising, payment, mapping, chat or other third-party technology is added.
